The Port of St. John’s is a major port of call for trans-Atlantic (North), Adventure Expedition, and home-porting itineraries. The St. John’s Port Authority has forged a number of alliances to increase the profile of St. John’s as an internationally-preferred cruise destination. We are a partner with Cruise Islands of the North Atlantic, a brand which markets the unique island destinations of Newfoundland and Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and the Orkney Islands. Working together, we’ve solidified the importance of North Atlantic island ports within the industry. In 2010, with the City of St. John’s as a partner, we developed Cruise St. John’s, a brand dedicated to attracting new cruise lines and passengers to our beautiful city. We’re also a partner port with Cruise Newfoundland Labrador, the provincial cruise association focused on promoting the province as a leading global cruise destination. These three alliances have helped put the port at the competitive centre of the industry.
In 2007, Newfoundland and Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and the Orkney Islands formed an alliance of unique destinations to increase the profile of the North Atlantic region and develop leading products for the cruise industry.
The St. John’s Port Authority is deeply involved with the Cruise Association of Newfoundland and Labrador in the development of the Cruise Islands of the North Atlantic brand. We also support efforts to showcase the best of our city and province to the world.
The Port of St. John’s is listed among the top experiences offered through “Cruise the Edge of North America.” This distinctive brand was launched by the Cruise Association of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010 to promote the province’s one-of-a-kind events, activities, and attractions to the growing experiential travel market worldwide.
We support this exceptional initiative which targets the international cruise market. We are confident that we have the product and the facilities to support increased vessel and visitor activity and to position Newfoundland and Labrador as a premiere global cruise destination.
The St. John’s Port Authority partners with the City of St. John’s to market the Cruise St. John’s identity which focuses on the promotion of St. John’s as an internationally preferred cruise destination. In February 2011, to help promote the city to cruise lines and passengers, the partners launched the brand identity “Experience Legendary St. John’s.” It includes a strategy, logo and stand-alone website.
